24th Jun 2010

Ms L O’Hare, the e-assessment co-ordinator for our school, together with more than 50 education professionals attended an information seminar on e-assessment. The event was organised by CCEA. E-assessment is the use of information technology for any assessment related activities. It could be pupils using the computer to do an online examination or sending coursework online to moderators, or recording marks from internal tests.

The changes are already happening in St Patrick's High School. Currently almost all A level pupils take at least some of their examinations on line. A level Applied ICT, A level Moving Image Arts and Key Skills students complete a significant proportion of their examinations electronically.

All Key Stage 3 pupils prepare an electronic portfolio of work which will be moderated online by CCEA. From 2010 all GCSE ICT pupils will upload all their coursework for e-assessment.

As other subjects catch up, e-assessment will be an important part of all testing, coursework and external examinations.
